General Responsibilities

  • Provides support to ensure the efficient operation of the Corporate office, coordinates activities, participates in the formation and implementation of the operational plan of work, completes special projects as assigned.
  • Assists CEO and management team with development and implementation of ongoing programs to measure, assess, and improve the quality of services delivered by MEnD Correctional Care.
  • Acts as liaison and/or representative between Corporate office and external clients.
  • Drafts, edits, and proofreads a variety of reports, presentations and other materials for management team. Reviews and summarizes miscellaneous reports and documents.
  • Develops and maintains current forms, policies, protocols, and other promotional and professional documentation.
  • Arranges travel itineraries for staff and coordinates logistics for off-site functions when necessary.
  • Responsible for heavy calendar management, which includes schedules for all MEnD employees, as well as the coordination of a variety of customer and management team meetings.
  • Functions as the point of contact for the Corporate office which may include extensive contact with new contracts/clients, screening and routing calls, taking detailed messages, and fielding requests for information.
  • Maintains Corporate office files.
  • Maintains office supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publication, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks, being a member of the MEnD team, assisting with expansion of the MEnD jail health philosophy, and going “above and beyond” typical job duties.
  • Other various duties as assigned by MEnD Correctional Care within the scope of the position. This may include travel to various trade shows, conferences, and other jails managed by MEnD, etc.

Job Skills/Requirements:

  • Professionally answer phone calls, emails, and in person inquiries.
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records and messages.
  • Route and distributing incoming postal mail and email.
  • Correct spelling and grammar to ensure accurateness.
  • Operate fax machines, copiers, videoconferencing and phone systems, and other office tools.
  • Use computer for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and additional applications.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner.
  • Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides care under the direction of the medical staff. These cares may include vitals, simple dressing/treatments, reporting information to nurse on-call, assisting with sick call of the inmates.
  • Assists with the operation of equipment, preventative maintenance, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment/techniques.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests by staff, inmates, and outside sources.
  • Assists with supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Completes assigned tasks given by medical staff as well as tasks in line with the duties of the position.
  • Responsible for the assistance of self-administration of medications to inmates within the jail facility.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and stocking of the items in the medication cart and other areas associated with the self-administration of medications to the inmate population.

Job Skills/Requirements:

  • Nursing Assistant or similar class completion.
  • Experience in a similar or related field. This includes other medical settings and/or correctional care.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direction in an environment with locked doors, inmate populations, security on multiple levels, and ability to document with precision all duties preformed.
  • Organization, professionalism, problem-solving, supply management, Inventory control, verbal communication, and team work are a must in this position.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) Certified (preferred).

    Required Education/License/Certifications

      • Master’s in Clinical or Psychiatric Social Work plus 2 years of post-master’s supervised clinical experience.
      • Valid Minnesota Social Work license (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Professional
      • Prefer 2-5 years of mental health experience in same or similar setting (i.e. county jail, prison, juvenile correctional facility, hospital, home care, urgent care, ER, etc.)
